Make the move to modern lifejackets with the Old4New program.

The Old4New lifejacket program completed its fifth season running in April 2018 and was all about making more boaters aware of the range of modern lifejackets. Not only are modern lifejackets slim-fitting but there’s also a style to suit all different types of water activity.

The program aimed to promote wearing a lifejacket when you’re out on the water, especially when in smaller craft. Advice and guidance on lifejacket care and service was provided through the Old4New program and skippers were strongly encouraged to service their lifejacket in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. An inflatable lifejacket will only work if it’s kept in working order and that includes carrying out regular appropriate care and service.

In the last decade alone, 8 out of 10 people who drowned in NSW while boating were not wearing a lifejacket. The Old4New program was just part of a wider campaign to get people into the right habit of putting on a lifejacket each time they go boating.
