Staying safe
- 65 Plus
  Take extra care as you get older. Always wear a lifejacket and be careful getting in and out of dinghies and tenders.

- NSW Regional Boating Plans
  Eleven Regional Boating Plans identifying priority boating safety, access and storage actions over the next five years.
- NSW Boating Statement
  An annual progress report on the delivery of priority projects and actions.
- Watsons Bay Pilot Station
  The Watsons Bay Pilot Station has been converted into a boating safety education centre.
- NSW Boating Wash and Riverbank Erosion Management
  A pilot project about improving the management of boating in areas that may be subject to significant riverbank erosion issues.

Dive safe

With so many great dive spots in the waters of NSW, it’s no wonder that it’s such a popular sport.

Whether you’re scuba diving, spearfishing or even snorkelling, you’re not only going to be spending time below the surface, but also occasionally on the surface. And that means the risk of being exposed to passing boat traffic. If you’re spearfishing or snorkelling, you’re even more at risk as you spend more time on the water surface.

Working with our stakeholders to help improve safety for divers has led to recommendations of a high vis flag used to draw attention to the mandated, and internationally recognised, blue and white Alpha flag which signals there are divers below a vessel. A Dive Safe Strategy (pdf 742KB) has been published that details these initiatives.
