Trailer boating - small boats offshore - video transcript

Andrew 'ET' Ettinghausen: A good skipper plans an offshore trip, makes sure the boat is up to it, checks the weather and ensures all safety gear is on board and working. If you're going more than two miles offshore you need a marine radio and a 406 Emergency Beacon. You should tell a responsible person where you're going and when you expect to return.

[Logging on with marine radio - "I'm heading offshore out to Brown's Mountain"]

Andrew 'ET' Ettinghausen: That can be done by using your marine radio to log on with the Coastal Radio Network. Remember, plan, prepare and log on and don't forget to log off when you're safely back in shore.
